📚 Alt. Investment Term of the Week: Commodities

  • Community Manager

    Commonly known as:

    • A basic good used in commerce that is interchangeable with other commodities of the same type (Investopedia) (e.g. multiple mining companies producing the same high-quality copper, a commodity)
    • More or less uniform in quality and utility regardless of their source

Commodities as a form of alternative investment:
Commodities trading is a popular investment strategy, which typically involves taking opinions as to whether the price of a specific commodity would rise or fall. For the commodity gold alone, there are many ways to add this into your portfolio -- check out this very detailed guide to gold ownership & investing by our very own goldbug in the community, @antoniomc27!

Common examples of commodities include: Precious Metals (Gold, Silver, Platinum, Copper), oil, diamonds, agricultural stocks and funds
