Bakkt ecosystem - good for crypto?

  • Funding Societies

Interesting news for crypto in the last week.

Bakkt, from the founder of ICE, partnering with Microsoft and Starbucks (among others) plan to leverage Microsoft's cloud to create an open and regulated, digital asset ecosystem - potentially paving the way for regulation and wide-scale adoption! Huge news considering the credibility and experience of the players.

But with a regulated system comes centralization, which is opposed to the core value of Bitcoin.

Ultimately we may need a higher level of centralization for wide spread adoption. Especially if we are talking about crypto mutual or pension funds. Does anyone think that Bakkt is a good thing for crypto? Why/why not?
